Il canto delle balene

Whale vocalization is probably the most complex in the animal kingdom.

Whales occupying the same geographical areas tend to sing similar songs, whales from non-overlapping regions sing entirely different songs.

The song evolves, it appears that old patterns are not revisited.

Humpback whales perform these vocalizations only during the mating season. Although the end is easy to understand, the function of this song is unknown.
